Dr. Mariela Padro- Is the third generation of behavioral health professionals in her family. Graduated from her psychiatric residency program as a Chief Resident from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, has a Fellowship of Psychoanalysis from NYU and is an Adjunct Member of The Florida Psychoanalytic Center. She worked in an established private practice in Staten Island for 3 years and then moved to Miami in 2015 where she opened her own private practice, Mind & Soul Therapy, PLLC where she provides psychotherapy with or without medication. Dr. Padro believes and understands every patient is unique and understands that in order to have a long term effect it is necessary to go through a thorough process that will help you understand and address your behavior and feelings. At times, this process might seem challenging but at the end we assure you that it will be one full of enlightenment and awareness. Since the beginning of her career, Dr. Padro has focused in patients as a whole; medically, psychologically and spiritually to decide the best course of treatment. Yes, they can be good for the elderly if they are SSRI or SNRI. Antidepressants like TCA medications are not recommended as they can worsen the dementia. Otherwise, there is no problem using it. On the contrary, it can help her. READ MORE

What are the best antidepressants for weight loss?
Unfortunately, there are no antidepressants that are good for weight loss. The most commonly used that is not “supposed” to cause weight gain is wellbutrin, however, if anxiety is present, you need to be careful because it can worsen it. Is obesity considered a psychiatric disorder?
Obesity is not considered a psychiatric disorder, however, the cause of your eating patterns can be. If your relationship with food is unhealthy and you use it to cope with stressors, then that can be a problem and can be worked through in therapy to build healthy and new coping skills that can help you manage stress differently. Can I become dependent on Celexa?
No, you cannot be dependent on it physiologically. However if the dosage has needed to be increased it can be because your symptoms have been higher than the dosage that you are taking and in needs ti be increased or you have a high tolerance to the medication which means that you would require higher dosages to receive benefits from it due to your metabolism of the medication.
