Growing up, dentistry was always a part of Dr. Carlson’s life as he watched his father (Dr. Vance Carlson) improve his patients’ health through quality dental work. His journey to a dental career wasn’t linear. He first graduated from Fort Lewis College with degrees in Accounting and Finance. However, after spending 5 years in the finance industry, he realized that he wanted to impact peoples’ lives in a more tangible way. After reflecting on his father’s successful, fulfilling career, Dr. Cade decided to dive headfirst into dentistry.
He was awarded his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Colorado, located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. He graduated with an emphasis in rural health for his contributions treating rural communities in the far reaches of Colorado. He was also presented with the Colorado Prosthodontic Society Award for demonstrating exceptional ability in providing prosthodontic treatment to his patients.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
