Blood test results?

My daughter had a blood test taken last week after being taken to the hospital for headaches. She had a blood test was done that shows she has a sinus infection and was prescribed antibiotics. They have said to follow up with the blood test after she has finished the antibiotics. We did it and today the letter has come from the doctor to say that the results of her blood test have much improved but advised to book another one in a month to check for marker normalities. I am so anxious that my daughter has some kind of cancer and I can't wait till Monday to find out. Please tell me it's not what I think it is. I want to cry but I can't as I don't want to worry her. She feels OK and is all smiley and happy.

Hello,

You did the appropriate thing when you took your daughter to see her doctor for headaches. Sinus infections are common causes of headaches and antibiotics are prescribed as treatment for the infection. The doctor checked the blood test and stated that the test was improved substantially indicating that the antibiotics are effective. It would be unusual for a second diagnosis to lurk in the background. Her doctor, though, wants to be certain that his recommended treatment continues to be effective.

My suggestion is to keep the recommendations of her doctor. I hope that you will not suffer too much from the uncertainty that you are experiencing.

Good luck to you and your daughter.
It’s hard to say without looking at the results myself but I can understand how the uncertainty can be worrying. I would recommend having a conversation with the doctor themselves so they can explain what exactly they are monitoring for.
