Neurosurgeon Questions Brain surgery

How long will it take my brother to recover from brain surgery?

My brother was operated on recently for his brain tumor. While the tumor was removed successfully, his recovery is taking a while. What is the usual time of recovery from a brain surgery?

It depends on the size and location and type of tumor. Almost all of my brain tumor patients go home the morning after surgery with a full head of hair, and are out and about in a day or 2, and back to work in less than a week, depending on how strenuous their work is. He should not have any staples to remove or any head wrap or any bandage, and his incision should be completely hidden by his hair immediately after surgery (If he is not already bald). There are very few, very limited exceptions to this rule, but without knowing exactly where his tumor is, and what kind of tumor it is, and how big it is, I can't tell you if he would be one of the exceptions.
This is variable, depending upon the type of tumour, location of the tumour and skill of the surgeon. I am not sure what you mean by "his recovery is taking a while". More specific information would be helpful.
Depends on where the tumor was located. Can take up to 3 months or more.
