Urologist Questions Men's health

Why does it hurt when I have an erection?

I'm only 20, and the muscle in my penis hurts, particularly when I have an erection. Why am I having this pain? Should I see a doctor?

If you have any area of bending of the penis with erection or narrowing, you may have Peyronies disease. Or it may be nothing. A urologist should be able to assess you.
The most common cause of painful erections is Peyronie's disease. This is a condition where scar tissue develops in one area inside the penis, causing it to curve and resulting in painful erections. The pain felt in the penis by Peyronie's disease makes it difficult and painful to have sex.
