Her clinical interests include weight loss management and health optimization, abnormal uterine bleeding, complex contraception, evaluation of abnormal pap, LEEP/LLETZ, minimally invasive surgery, obstetrics, and prenatal care.
While she enjoys taking care of many things in general obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Lukens has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery as well as weight loss medicine. Her practice philosophy is to be an open listener and involve her patients in their medical decision-making process by providing continuous education and maintaining excellent communication. She is also committed to practicing evidence-based medicine and helping train future physicians as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Graduating with her Medical Degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 2005, Dr. Lukens went on to perform her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center from 2005-2009.
Subsequent to her training, she attained board certification in obstetrics and gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
In 2021, Dr. Lukens completed her boards in obesity medicine. Since then, she has been actively counseling and treating patients who request assistance. Her approach is to optimize women’s overall health through coaching, nutritional and exercise counseling and planning as well as utilizing appropriate medications when necessary.
Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). When not working, Dr Lukens enjoys spending time with her family, watching her kids play sports, and staying active.
