  • How long does a chiropractic adjustment for neck pain last?

I wish it was a simple answer. Just getting an adjustment alone may not be enough. Managing chronic neck pain is comprised of many factors. I like to ask about sleeping habits (e.g., sleeping on your stomach), work habits (sitting for hours), you overall posture (e.g. forward head position), even your diet. Do you exercise? Are you overweight? How much stress are you under? All of these can be important tools that can help manage and reduce your chronic pain. READ MORE

  • Is chiropractic treatment effective for son's back pain?

You can certainly consider it, but I recommend a thorough evaluation first. This can be done by a chiropractor, or a spine-related orthopedic surgeon or physical medicine (physiatrist) medical doctor. It may or may not involve x-rays depending on his age. It's always best to evaluate before treating. READ MORE

  • What can be the cause of my lower back pain?

It's a simple question with multiple answers. First, if you have leg pain and/or numbness and tingling going down a leg, you need to be evaluated by a competent health care professional. Back pain at your age is usually mechanical though. It can come from prolonged sitting, poor posture, excessive strain on workouts, a prior or recent injury such as a fall or auto accident...the list goes on. You should really be evaluated by a trained professional such as a medical doctor who specializes in spine, an osteopath, a chiropractor, not in any particular order. Much of what I see requires core training, as most people have very weak core muscles. There are several choices for core work: Pilates, Gyrotonics, posture-based yoga, TRX, Feldenkrais technique, Egoscue technique, Alexander technique and more. They all work but to me they are vehicles and you have to like what you "drive" as you will be doing these 2 - 3 times a week. They vary quite a bit. Some take special trainers and equipment while others can be done carefully on your own. READ MORE

  • Can I work out after a chiropractic adjustment?

Usually yes. It’s impossible to say because it depends on what is actually wrong with your back and the type of exercise you are planning to do. READ MORE

  • Could posture cause lower back pain in children?

Yes, all those things are likely sources. Backpacks are also common. The backpack should not exceed 15% of his body weight. Posture is so important. And it is a management issue more than a “fix-it” issue. In other words, reduce or eliminate harmful things such as what you mentioned and prolonged sitting. Add in corrective things, such as posture exercises. there are many on the Internet. It needn’t be expensive, but you do have to find something he likes enough to do. READ MORE
