Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Richard P. Rand, who serves patients in Bellevue, Washington. 

Dr. Rand is an experienced Bellevue-based plastic surgeon who is widely regarded as being among the most accomplished and talented plastic surgeons practicing in the greater Seattle area. At his private, world-class clinic, Northwest Center for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, he is recognized for consistently achieving superior results.

The doctor’s main goal is to provide the level of care that he and his family would hope to receive. After being the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center for 10 years, he became the owner and Director of the Northwest Center for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in 2000.

Recognized as a leading Seattle and Bellevue area plastic surgery practice, Dr. Rand interacts personally and extensively with each of his patients so that they can understand what each cosmetic procedure can offer so that they may achieve their desired results. He then develops a custom treatment plan designed to meet each patient’s specific needs.

A fourth-generation physician, Dr. Rand grew up surrounded by dedicated medical professionals. His father and grandfather were both world-renowned neurosurgeons. His grandfather established the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Southern California, and his father was responsible for the development of microscopic neurosurgery and for the growth of the Department of Neurosurgery at UCLA.

It was his father’s dedication to surgery and his mother’s dedication to art that led Dr. Rand to plastic surgery, a discipline that combines aesthetic sensibilities and medical science. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor in 1981, after which he underwent the full general surgery training at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston and received board certification from the American Board of Surgery.

He then trained in plastic surgery at Emory University, which was America’s most prestigious teaching program at the time. Thereafter, he completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at the University of Miami, after which he received board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

One of the most thoroughly trained of all plastic surgeons, Dr. Rand’s credentials, knowledge, outstanding work, and experience has led to him serve as an examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery on multiple occasions. As a consummate professional in the field of plastic surgery, he worked with the Board to examine young plastic surgeons who are attempting to become board certified.

As a Bellevue and Seattle area plastic surgery specialist with a reputation for surgical excellence, Dr. Rand is affiliated with or a member of a number of professional organizations including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (Fellow), the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Maurice J. Jurkiewicz Society, and the Washington Society of Plastic Surgeons.
