What is the treatment for a deviated septum?
The best treatment for deviated septum is a procedure called septoplasty. If the only issue is the deviation this can be done without changing the shape of your nose. However, often times, patients will combine a septoplasty with a rhinoplasty to get improvement of both the shape and the function of the nose. Septoplasty by itself is usually done through the inside of the nose with no visible incision and little to no bruising. The main reason to have a septoplasty is to improve nasal breathing or decrease the amount of nose bleeds. READ MORE
Can you have empty nose syndrome after nose surgery?
Yes, empty nose syndrome is an unfortunate complication of some types of nasal surgery. Empty nose syndrome is the condition where your nasal passages are visibly open but you feel like they are obstructed. It can be coupled with dry nose and crusting. The typical case that can lead to this condition is usually a septoplasty with or without turbinate reduction. However, it can also happen with turbinate reduction on its own. A rhinoplasty should not lead to empty nose syndrome unless it is coupled with a septoplasty. Luckily, the risk of empty nose syndrome is low. Some studies suggest that it is around 1% although others have suggested it is a little bit higher. The treatments for empty nose syndrome vary and the results are hit and miss. READ MORE

What is a non-surgical nose job?
Non-surgical nose job is when fillers are used to change the appearance of the nose. I have to give a word of caution about this procedure. Thank you for your question. It is really hard to say exactly how many treatments you need without actually examining you and seeing what it is we are treating. Dermabrasion is a procedure that is done to improve the appearance of scars, skin irregularities and certain other skin conditions. I guess the question is what do you want to change about your eyebrows? If you want them to be higher then yes you can have a brow lift to raise them. This can also be achieved using Botox. There are so many factors that play a role in the efficacy of scar revision surgery. First, the type and location of the scar. Then the length, characteristics and color of the scar. Finally, the amount of normal tissue that is around it. For example, it is very difficult to get rid of a scar that involves a big portion of a body location. Is hair transplant surgery dangerous?
Thank you for your question. Hair transplant procedures are not generally dangerous. First, you have to make sure that it is being performed by someone with great deal of experience. Second, you want it to be done in a clean facility. Otherwise, hair transplantation using the follicular unit extraction technique (FUE) is a safe and highly effective method to treat balding and thinning of the hair. READ MORE
What can you eat after nose surgery?
Typically after nose surgery I have patients avoid types of food that makes their nose run. These could be spicy or hot foods. Also as the temperature of food goes up so will the blood flow to upper aerodigestive system. So it is best to avoid eating really hot foods and stick with warm or cold food and drinks instead. How long does Botox last?
Botox treatment or any other similar treatments (i.e. Dysport or Xeomin) usually lasts 3-4 months. However, it isn't unusual that if you use these medications for a period of time that the duration between each injection increases. I have some patients that go 6-12 months before needing injection. However, they have been with me for years so it takes time for the muscles to not need these treatments as often. READ MORE
Can ear tubes removal change the appearance of your ears?
Absolutely not. Ear tubes are inserted on the ear drum which is deep inside your ear canal. Removal of the tubes should not in anyway change the shape of the ear itself. READ MORE
Which is better for your face Kybella or CoolSculpting?
Both are great treatments to get rid of fat. It really depends on the amount of fat you need to get rid of and the number of treatments you are willing to have. Generally, both can get rid of a good amount of fat but Kybella needs more treatments than CoolSculpting. Procedures such as liposuction on the other hand will only need one treatment and can get rid of more fat from the face. READ MORE
Is cheek augmentation permanent?
This is a great questions. There are several ways to augment someone’s cheek. One is through the use of fillers like Restylane, Jeuvaderm, Sculptra and Radiesse. These methods give great results but are no permanent. You can also do cheek implants which is a surgical procedure. In this case, however, the results are permanent. You may want to start by getting fillers and if you like the results move on to a more permanent method. READ MORE
How is a cheek lift done?
Cheek lift is usually done through 2 separate incisions. It is either done via a small incision in your mouth along the cheek. This is called a trans-buccal incision. Another incision is done through the inside of the lower eyelid. This is called a trans-conjunctival incision. Either incision heals well and there is no scarring. I am sorry to hear about your accident. There are many ways that plastic surgery can either remove or improve the appearance of scars. It really depends on the location of the scars and the characteristics of the scar. A raised scar can be injected with steroids, can be treated with lasers and dermabrasion. Depressed scars usually do well with resection and re-closure but can sometimes improve with dermabrasion. READ MORE
What are the side effects of Botox?
Botox is typically a very safe procedure. However, like most other procedures it can have some side effects. The most common side effect is headaches. These are usually temporary. You can also have allergic reaction to Botox. This is, however, very rare. Most other side effects are related to the Botox spreading from the area of injection to other locations. Facial plastic surgery in general is not very painful. However, there are many procedures that fall under the umbrella of facial plastic surgery and some of them can be more painful than others. A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Zandifar received his medical degree from the prestigious David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He completed his residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at the SUNY Upstate Medical University in New York City and was then accepted to one of a few highly sought after fellowships in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Beeson Aesthetic Surgery Institute in Indiana.
