What kind of anesthesia is used for root canal surgery?

I need a root canal surgery and don't want to be awake. What kind of anesthesia is used for root canal surgery?

This really depends on the training and expertise and preference of your dentist.
The anesthesia for root canal procedures I have had done were simply injections of local anesthesia by the dentist. There was no need for any other kind of anesthesia.
