Nerve damage in the hand from trauma can be examined by a hand surgeon to see if grafting is available. Nerve damage from compression such as carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated with an operation as well.
Your treatment is based on the extent and cause of your injury and how well the nerve is healing as well as treating the underline medical condition causing the matter * If the nerve is healing, you might just need to rest , use pain medicine like ibuprofen or Motrin and do physical therapy * If the is not healing. Surgery might be needed. Either nerve repair which means you remove the damage piece and reconnect the nerve or use a piece of nerve from another part of the body, which is referred to as nerve graft. Thank you Sameh Morkous
Physical therapy, Injections and surgery are the normal options.
