Dermatologist Questions Chemical Peel

I did a chemical peel at home and now my face is red. What should I do?

I did a chemical peel at home myself and it turned out to be one big mistake. My face has turned red and is also inflamed. I don't want to moisturize with the wrong thing. What should I do?

I don’t recommend home peels, you can cause scarring.
You may want to see a board certified dermatologist to assist with this reaction. Typically, aquaphor is a great ointment to assist with discomfort and wound healing.
I would apply vaseline ointment liberally. I would also avoid sun exposure for at least a week. You might consider taking some ibuprofen as well as apply hydrocortisone 1% twice a day for 3-4 days.
To calm it down, cortizone 10 cream twice a day and as needed if burning or itching, also with neosporin cream not ointment. Cream can be kept in the fridge for the cooling effect.
Wash with cerave or aquanil cleanser. Apply aquaphor ointment 2-3 x per day for 2-3 days then vanicream moisturizing cream as needed. Avoid sun exposure for 7-10 days.
Avoid the sun, use no harsh preparations on the face, and do domebro comprise twice daily. Instructions are on the packets. The aluminum in this preparation is anti-inflammatory.
